St. Paul Lobby DayThe nearly 60,000 retail workers in the greater St. Paul area of Minnesota struggle with unpredictable scheduling. That’s why Working America members in Minnesota made retail workers’ rights the focus of their March 18 Lobby Day. Two Working America members joined WA State Director Bree Halverson and organizer Jess Alexander to push for fair scheduling practices in their meeting with State Rep. Ryan Winkler and legislative aides. “I brought my son along … and one of the senators was interested in my perspective as a young dad with an infant son,” said Andy Barno-Iversen, a member of Retail Working America who joined the Lobby Day. “The representatives were very supportive of our priorities—transportation funding, paid family leave, and fair scheduling.” |
